Confirmed information
Dinoblade is a third-person soulslike action RPG in which you play a young Spinosaurus that fights with a greatsword clenched in its jaws. It was built by Team Spino LLC — essentially solo developer Jean Nguyen, a senior gameplay animator at Sucker Punch Productions — and published by Team Spino alongside Singapore-based Boltray Games. The game launched on 23 July 2026 for Windows PC via Steam. No PlayStation, Xbox or Switch version has been announced.

The defensive model here is closer to Sekiro than to Dark Souls. Well-timed deflects fill an enemy's resolve meter and open the way to a heavy counter, so the game rewards holding your ground rather than rolling away and waiting. Attacks also commit: once an animation starts you cannot cancel out of it, which makes reading a boss's pattern far more important than reacting quickly.
The world is split into distinct biomes — canyon, jungle, swamp and frozen regions among them — and each is gated by an Alpha predator that serves as its boss. Beating an Alpha both opens the route onward and feeds your progression. A separate Boss Rush mode unlocks once the final boss is down, which is where most of the replay value sits given the campaign's fairly contained length.
The project began as a portfolio piece, not a pitch: in August 2022 Jean Nguyen posted a short animation of a Spinosaurus swinging a greatsword, and the clip spread far beyond its intended audience. A playable Steam demo followed in October 2025 and drew strongly positive user feedback ahead of the 2026 launch.
Reviewers have been consistent about two weak points. Frame rates disappoint on mid-range hardware even above the stated minimum specification, which reviewers attribute to Unreal Engine 5 overhead without a dedicated performance team behind it. The skill and attribute screens are also described as functional but comparatively unpolished next to the combat they feed into.
