Confirmed information
Mortal Shell II is a standalone Soulslike action RPG sequel from Cold Symmetry, published by Playstack and releasing August 20, 2026 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S — with no PS4 or Xbox One version. Players return as the Harbinger, possessing the bodies of fallen warriors known as Shells to inherit their combat abilities, this time across a much larger interconnected open world set in a redesigned, swampy and cold reimagining of Fallgrim.

The sequel ships with eight playable Shells (up from the original's four), including Tiel the Acolyte, Eredrim the Venerable, and Proxima the Broodseeker — each offering a distinct fighting style. Combat is deliberately faster and more aggressive than the original's patience-and-timing focus, with deeper weapon upgrade options and the addition of firearms and ranged combat.
Cold Symmetry has said the interconnected world is designed to stay deliberately compact — high content density with minimal wasted travel — with over 60 dungeons to explore. Confirmed post-launch content includes New Game Plus, a Boss Rush mode, additional Shells, and story DLC. The Steam Open Beta drew more than 500,000 players in under two weeks and held a 93% positive rating.
