Game overview

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a ground-up remake of 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, developed primarily by Ubisoft Singapore and released July 9, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Ubisoft Store, Steam, Epic Games Store), with Steam Deck verification. Rebuilt on the latest Anvil engine, it returns players to the Golden Age of Piracy as Edward Kenway — with Matt Ryan reprising the role — and also serves as the fifteenth main installment in the series, continuing the modern-day arc begun in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Guide coverage

Action-Adventure, Not an RPG

Ubisoft has been explicit that Resynced is a faithful remake rather than a reinvention: it deliberately steps away from the RPG systems of recent Assassin's Creed entries. Improvements include parry-driven combat closer to Assassin's Creed Shadows, refined stealth and parkour, deeper naval mechanics, enhanced lighting, high-resolution textures, a dynamic weather system, and a fully customisable HUD with presets.

What's Not Included

Resynced omits the original Black Flag's multiplayer mode and DLC, focusing entirely on the single-player campaign plus new narrative content and a reworked Animus framing. Ubisoft Singapore, which was one of Ubisoft Montreal's main collaborators on the 2013 original, led development with many original Black Flag developers returning; 15 Ubisoft studios contributed in total.
