Confirmed information
Ratatan is a rhythm roguelike from Ratata Arts and TVT Co., Ltd., published by Game Source Entertainment, widely seen as the spiritual successor to the Patapon series since it's led by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and several of the original developers. Funded through a Kickstarter that raised over $1 million, it launched into PC Early Access on September 18, 2025, with console versions for PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch following in 2026, casting players as a conductor who issues rhythm-timed commands to an army of small creatures called Ratatan.

Instead of standard action inputs, players issue orders — Attack, Defend, and Specials — by hitting buttons in sync with the game's music, directly evolving Patapon's rhythm-command formula. Each roguelike run through procedurally generated stages grants temporary upgrades and items that are lost on death, alongside permanent unlocks that persist between runs.
Ratatan supports online co-op for up to four players commanding their armies together, a feature the original Patapon games never had, with battles scaling up to over 100 characters fighting in a single melee.
